The Presentation

So, when I started doing Ucastic, the way I started was just opening up a laptop, my MacBook Air, I mean, no, Air wasn't a thing, my MacBook Pro, and using the built-in camera and microphone and photo booth, and then, yeah, at the time I wasn't, I think there were some, like, restrictions about YouTube, so I didn't go with YouTube at first because I, there was something about their licensing at the time. And, but, yeah, the first series of videos at SCNA 2011 were simply sitting down wherever an open space could be found that I could lay down my laptop, crack it open, and then start photo booth, and then record from there. It was, uh, very rudimentary, and, uh, the trick, though, wasn't the, uh, wasn't the, um, the recording, though, where it got complex as the processing pipeline, because I didn't really have many tools available to me at the time, and I don't think I knew iMovie even at the time. Um, and I wanted everything to be open source and scripted, um, so I used FFmpeg and, uh, learned about doing overlays and making graphics, so that's how those little overlays appear inside of the, uh, inside of the scripts there.

I'm, I'm trying to make sure I'm not going to block any rac ers. Um, the, uh, um, yeah, it was, it was all done by hand, uh, using, uh, shell scripts and, um, FFmpeg and a couple different tools for overlays, so, okay, I'm going to get out of the way of a racer. Thanks, bye.
